So here is some of my cheap-o artwork. I was inspired a couple of months ago, and finally I am posting a picture of the finished work (better late than never Erica??) i think they are pretty cute and super easy to do.
Step 1. Take a picture of a profile
Step 2. Print Photo
Step 3. Cut out your photo to use as a template
Step 4. Trace your template
Step 5. Cut out your new silhouette!

Note: I believe less perfect = MORE character ;)

*another cheap-o tip - use a sconce where you can't afford (or wire) an overhead light to define a dining space.

feeling pink

I really love the color pink. Often, I want to buy things that are pink, but always steer away not wanting to come across to "girly." For example, I rencetly went to Target to purchase a yoga mat. Options were: Black, Pink, Grey, and Blue. My first instinct was that I wanted pink... But then I thought maybe grey would be more practical in the long run (yes, I put this much thought into a yoga mat purchase) BUT THEN I said to myself, F it. I want pink. I'm getting pink.
Why not?!
As I was painting my nails Thursday night, which is ALWAYS a big debate as to what color I will do, and how to coordinate toe and finger colors. I wanted to do pink but couldn't decide what color to do my toes.. I had already done the green/coral, teal/pink combo a couple times this summer and didn't want to repeat it again. So, what the heck, I painted them both the same shade of OPI Strawberry Margarita. And I wore a pink shirt to work the next day. How very pink of me :)

Well, it looks like fall collections are starting to come out of the woodwork! This is good news for many reasons. First off, I have a ball to go to in December, the theme is Truman Capote's Black and White Ball. So I need a black or white ball gown. I really want white, but of course not looking like a wedding dress. Very hard to find, let me know if you find one! Back to fall collections, I was hoping my dress would show up in someone's fall collection. So now that they are starting to come out, I can start shopping again :)
It's also just fun to look at all the new stuff. I spent this morning cruising the JCrew website and all their new goodies. This evening was spent checking out Tory Burtch.
Now. I need this bag. If I had a few more dollas to spare that is!

I've had kale in restaurants and love it. So I decided to buy it at the grocery store! But now I'm not sure how I'm going to cook it. I'm thinking about just sauteing it... any ideas??

I just was going through the blogs I follow and two of them were women who had been trying to get pregnant and finally did. I cant imagine the pain and fear of not being able to conceive and it melted my heart reading their stories and dreams of carrying a child come true!

I am truly in love watching every news piece on the upcoming royal wedding. I can not wait for Friday and I just hope work is not busy so I can somehow stream the wedding live on my computer. (I know it's available I just need to figure out how to do it)
I love Kate too. I want her hair. I asked my hair dresser how Kate got such great ... for lack of a better term... loops at the end?? She told me that Kate must use rollers, I'd like to believe I could accomplish the same thing if I had better round brush skills.
I also love her hats and hair pieces.

.. did that look like wind?? (the title)??

It was so windy in Phoenix today. But it felt so good. I was wearing this Bobi cotton long "vest" that was a purchase from my trip to Atlanta (love btw) and it was perfect. So light an airy for the hot heat, and looked pretty cool flying in the wind behind me.It also was an easy thing to thrown on and I still felt kinda dressed up, or at least stylishly dressed.
Annnd wearing it made me pretty happy for the whole day.

This past weekend I watched the movie The Romantics. I first heard about it when Jcrew had something on their website about it... but I had added the movie to my Netflix list. The movie is so great. It's something where I dont even know why it was so great and that makes it even better. The filming, the styling, the characters, it was great. I plan on watching again for sure. #highlyrecommend

And is Adam Brody single? I'm highly interested.

Please, Take a Seat

I recently purchased a chair, and I'm so proud of it I needed to share. I don't know much about it except that it is English and I visited it 3 times before I bought it. Which brings me to a very important message I need to spread - if you love it, BUY IT! I am 100% positive that I will enjoy this chair for many years to come. I'm just a bit embarrassed that it took me 3 times to commit myself to this gem.

A long time dream of mine has been able to do the fish tail braid thing. I watched you tube videos to try to learn how to do it.. I tried to have Dan do it for me.. it's just really challenging. My problem is that I cant pull it tight enough and my hair is long and I get to a point where I cant get my arms to go any lower. Ughhh
So with that short story.. I hadn't tried the fish tail for a while, until yesterday when I randomly was like 'hey I should fish tail today' and it was my most successful attempt yet! Excitment!!

On a recent trip to American Apparel I picked up three bottles of nail polish (3 for $15! Not a bad deal..)

Poppy being one of them. I really really love it. Love it so much I have it on my toes and fingers which I never do! It's pretty bright but still feels kind of like a classic red.. with a little more orange. I'm thinking of it as a hipper red.

Craft Time!

So the wheels have been spinning as I prepare for my new (although still a mystery) apartment. And since I will be decorating it on a Design Assistant's budget, I like cheap. I was perusing the Jonathan Adler site when I came across these super fun silhouettes. And then I thought - I can do that! So guess what art project Adam and I are going to do this weekend ;) Pictures to follow....

I love little details. And I loved this flower pin from Jcrew, the pin part curves and it literally did not BUDGE the whole day. Amazing.
The purple flower with the yellow gingham shirt felt so spring and happy!

I painted my nails last night.. wasn't really sure what color to do.. light purple had been on my mind and seemed very fitting for spring.. but I ended up going with a soft purpley-pink.
This morning, I poured myself a bowl of cereal.
And would you believe it?! Identical to my nail polish #notplanned!

The past few months my magazines have really been piling up on me. I hate that feeling. But I just cant seem to find the desire to get to them! I always think I'll spend a weekend just catching up and reading, but it's soo easy to find other things to do.

I realized that what my outfits were lacking was accessorizing. For the longest time I couldn't understand why my well planned cute outfits didn't end up looking as cute as I had planned they would. As I started following fashion blogs I realized they all wore really great cute accessories. So above is my new go-to staple accessories.
It has totally transformed my looks! I love it.Thank you fashion bloggers for showing me the light.

It's only March.. why is it already 89 degrees in Phoenix??? Anyone, anyone?? It seems way to early for this sort of heat! Someone please say there is a cool down coming soon.

I saw this Jcrew skirt in the store, then saw it on Andrea Canning when she interviewed Charlie Sheen on ABC, and then decided I have to own it.  This skirt will be perfect for the heat if it chooses to not go away.

the bun

Let me just start by saying, I love buns. I feel like I've been wearing my hair in buns for at least the last 10 years (yes that means since the good 'ol age of 13). I remember at one point I wore the bun with twisty things on top of my head then had the bun. Then I did the super messy bun with straight spikes sticking out everywhere, then there was the bun with braids running in and out of it (still dont hate!) and now I often do the low bun and then the big bun. I think most of us love the big bun from seeing Sarah Jessica Parker rock it.. or maybe that's just me. But either way, I love it. It's so classy and elegant but you can wear it with anything! I like wearing the big bun with my sweats so I feel somewhat pulled together while at the grocery store. I feel like 5 out of 7 days a week I am wearing a bun. It's just that easy! So here's a pic of me rocking the big bun that I learned how to do from thanks sydney!

I recently stumbled upon Kishani Perera's website with a friend. Ever since, all I want to do is paint my walls. My walls are currently your basic apartment white.. I know.. They could really use some color inspiration from Ms. Perera. She has such a wonderful wonderful sense of style and color. I've looked over her portfolio a lot and love it more and more each time. I think what really appeals to me is the amount of texture in each room. There is so much depth  to each image that I truly want to be sitting on the sofa!

Mmmmm I'm loving all three of these things below (especially how they look together)!! I can just see it now.. wearing the dress, nails painted, standing on the rug.. done. 

Okay, the nail polish. I've been wanting a light green/light blue polish for forever. I have OPI's Shrek Collection which has a light blue and light green but it just doesn't work on me. I think Chanel's Riva would be perfect!! It's not totally blue or green and it ahs a really nice shimmer to it that I think will work better. And I just love Chanel's square bottles.

John Robshaw's dhurrie is such a wonderful pattern. I want it for in my powder room. 

The Anthropologie dress looks like a great cut. I want it for my body :)

Although living in Phoenix doesn't lead to very many cold days.. a few have happened and the mornings are definitely cold. SOO I've been very happy and excited to wear my new sweater and feel all cozy inside :)

Boohoo.. I am happy to see that although at the time of this picture I was super stressed every day with school I still found time to paint my nails! *high five*

As I was getting dressed this morning, I realized that my outfit was exactly how I imagine my dream office to look like.. Navy walls (specifically Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball..I cant get over navy walls!! <3), white shag carpet, soft pink & yellow accessories, and probably a lot of sparkle. Oh, and a white Barcelona Chair would be the finishing touch!

Perfect. Now if someone can please give me a house we'll be allll set  :)

On a side note, I saw someone walking into Best Buy barefoot.

It's LOVE

Ha I love it! Now, I'm a little nervous...so it's great that we practiced blogging earlier on the phone.

I bought a new candle. "Midnight Jasmine" by Yankee Candle. It smells like Rome in May. Now that really is love. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.
